Like this book, The Wizards of Waverly Place is about three siblings. Alex, Justin and Max, played respectively by Selena Gomez, http://selenaweb.org/ David Henrie http://www.davidhenrieonline.com/ and Jake T. Austin http://jaketaustin.com/ , each have magical powers, which they inherited from their father, Jerry, played by David DeLuise. While growing up in the non-magical world with non-magical friends, the siblings gather to study magic in their secret lair after school. Their studies are important because soon, only one of three, the best wizard, will be allowed to keep their powers.
Many adolescents feel like they don’t fit into the world in which they were born. This is certainly true in this book, where Dingeltrot stands taller than everyone else in his community. It’s also true in Wizards of Waverly Place, where Alex, Justin and Max are the only of their day-to-day friends who possess magical powers. But facing the challenges of growing up, even the adolescents who feel different and alienated realize they are, more than anything, regular human beings.
